Interview With Yuffie Bunny

by Cary

Cosplay model and Anime convention mainstay Yuffie Bunny gets animated about her life in this interview.

How did you get interested in anime and cosplay?

I was always interested in anime, thanks to Saturday morning cartoons and my older family members who were into it before me. I got into cosplay through the people I used to baby sit for, actually. They took me to my first anime convention and while I had known there were going to be people dressed up, I had no idea how much fun it was going to be. I got addicted and just had to keep doing it!

How does modeling that kind of look differ from other types of modeling?

There's a lot more creativity behind cosplay modeling. For me, personally, because I'm not only modeling the cosplay, I'm making it as well. You have a real sense of pride behind your finished product when you make it, style it and produce the photos yourself. I get wicked awesome props to work with, everything from swords to light up motor bikes! But of course there's also the fact you're trying to bring to life a written character. You're not just coming up with your own poses, you've got to mimic what your character does, bring forth their emotions and make people believe it's really them and not you.

You have modeled in Zentai suits as well, what is that experience like?

Zentai suits are really strange! But in a good way. It makes breathing and seeing harder, so when you're modeling you have to really lay all your trust in who you're working with to help you move around and make sure the outfit or whatever else you have on is right. Zentai is really neat too because it forces you to focus more on dynamic poses, rather then batting your eye lashes and looking cute or sexy, now you've got to really push your body to exaggerate movements and show off every curve. It's really great, and it's actually helped me a lot with my other modeling!

You also appear and perform at a lot of conventions, what keeps you coming back to them?

It's really the fans that keep me coming back. They ask for me and the conventions deliver. I love meeting people and talking to them about the cons and what I do. A lot of them are interested in what I do for themselves, so I feel very flattered when they find me at the conventions and ask me for advice. And of course, being a guest, judging and stage dancing for the DJs is way too much fun, I really live for those weekends these days.

Any crazy convention stories?

Oh I have so many, I really don't think I could pick just one! Though the one convention I turned 21 at, my friends had helped me win a spot to have dinner with my favorite Japanese rock star, AYA from Psycho Le Cemu. (who's now in the band Mix Speaker's Inc. with their bassist Seek) Not only was it a dream come true for me, but it really made that convention one of the best I've ever been to.

Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into?

Well I've never really tried it in my personal life! I know, that's strange considering I've done shoots involving fetishes and BDSM. I suppose if I were to get involved with someone who was already into it I would try. I think I would need a good teacher!

What kind of music do you like?

I listen to just about everything. From rock and pop to hip hop and Japanese music! My ipod is really just a mess of every genre you could imagine.

What do you like to do for fun?

Shop! I wish I could win the lottery and go on the most insane shopping spree! But I also enjoy hanging out with my friends at the conventions I attend, not only is it free and doesn't cost me a few grand, but I've got the best company I could ever ask for.
