Interview With Widow Centauri

by Cary

For everyone who takes kink too seriously we present Widow Centauri, Dominatrix and Comedian!

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

When I was a little kid I used to bite boys and laugh. The only other people who laughed were my parents. Then they told me I had to taper my overtly sadistic behavior, kind of like what happened to Dexter.

You also conduct sex workshops, is that kind of a combination of the two?

No, defiantly not. I am a serious academic scholar. When I grow up I want to be a professor. My sex workshops are designed to educate and entertain perverts but they are really the laboratory activities of an academic class I am working on. Through instructing sex workshops I am refining my teaching skills and developing this university level course. I might be required to remove some of the hands-on portions depending on which university offers me a teaching position. lol

Of all these different things, which is your favorite?

I love what I do. I don't really have a favorite. I don't do favorites. I love to perform, write, teach, blog, podcast, shop for shoes, read, eat ice cream, do research, and beat boys. I mean this is life we are talking about, not a multiple choice test where I can only pick one.

Do you ever find your interest in comedy crossing over into fetish/BDSM play or visa versa?

Have you ever hit someone with a rubber chicken? It's funny and it hurts a lot.

You claim to need a manager and a PR person, can't you just get a sub to do it for free?

LOL Listen, no matter what you might think about submissives working for free it's a load of crap. Nothing is free. They demand a tremendous amount of my energy and I will never be satisfied with what they do, even if it's perfect. The last three relationships I have had I have tried to turn my lover into my business manager. I'm in a position with my career where I need someone on my team who does this for a living. I need someone who has more marketing savvy than I do. I need a pro.

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

I was born.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the fetish scene?

What does that mean? Just starting out in the fetish scene? What kid of question is this? Do you mean personally – like in kinky themed night-clubs? Professionally – as in beating up boys for fun and profit? What are you asking? The Fetish Scene – that sounds like something someone told you to call the umbrella term of all things kinky, gothic, underground, and possibly involving blood. I'm amused by your neophyte paradigm.

Seriously, I would suggest that a novice kinkster keep a good sense of humor about this shit. BDSM is so serious, dressed in black, scowling, and not interested in noticing anything funny. The best way I know to laugh about this stuff is to read my blog, download my podcast, and come see my one-woman show If Lucy Had A Whip: Tales of a Goofball Dominatrix. I will be performing it in Southern California several times in 2009, doing a few performances on Cape Cod this summer, and taking it to the Edinburgh Festival in 2010.
