Interview With Miss Vinyl Meow

by Cary

Miss Vinyl Meow is a fetish make up artist and model and all around tornado of sexiness and creativity.

How did you get interested in makeup and become a makeup artist?

I didn't always aspire to become a make-up artist. When I was young I actually didn't realize that pursuing a career as a MUA was possible. At the time I wanted to be a cartoonist or graphic novelist. I was always drawing voluptuous hot chicks. It wasn't until I realized that I couldn't afford to go to art school that I discovered make-up. Things have been rolling into place ever since and I love what I do!

Do you have a formal arts background?

Not really. I took one semester of art in college and then moved around the country for awhile. I am also a beauty school drop out! All of my make-up and art skills are pretty much self-taught. I have never really had much patience sitting around in school waiting for things to happen when I could be accomplishing them on my own.

How does fetish oriented makeup differ from other styles?

Fetish gives me the opportunity to be very creative. Unlike other facets of the fashion world, I can do pretty much whatever I want at a shoot. The sort of make-up I do at a fetish shoot can vary from very natural to extreme avant-garde. As a make-up artist, fetish fashion always keeps me on my toes, because I am never really sure what the outcome will be! With normal shoots that I have worked for, especially editorial shoots, most clients want a fresh, natural look. Fetish shoots give me the opportunity to transform the model into something else; some sex-crazed nymph from another world...if I choose to do so.

What occasions do people use your makeup services for?

Oh geez, I have done a bit of everything. I have done make-up for weddings, modeling agencies, fashion magazines, the usual stuff. I have also done make-up for fetish websites, fashion shows, tv shows, and I even did make-up for Convergence 14. I would LOVE to do make-up for Headsick Pinups. That would rock my face off!

You use vinyl in your nom de plum, is that a particular favorite material of yours, and if so what about it intrigues you?

Hahaha..I do enjoy heavy vinyl. I remember, as a teenager, buying my first pair of vinyl pants and thinking,'this is the most bad ass article of clothing I own!'. I even got away with taking my senior pics in them even though I was going to Catholic school. I guess you could say that I feel sentimental towards vinyl since it was the catalyst that led to other fetish fashions for me when I was young.

Do you find that your modeling work and make up artistry influence each other?

Oh, definitely. My own face is the medium for my artistic experiments with make-up. If it doesn't look good on me then I won't try doing it on someone else!

Are there any other creative mediums you work in?

Every so often I go into creative overdrive and will spend days drawing and painting non-stop with pretty much whatever I can get my hands on. Some of my favorite mediums are acrylics, water color, cartooning pens, and basic pencil. I also dabble with photography and photo editing. I am very interested in getting into silk screening. I also enjoy making hairfalls.

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

Honestly, it started with movies and comic books for me. Anytime I would see a hot chick wearing skin tight vinyl or latex clothing (or what seemed to be such things) in a comic book or movie I instantly wanted to be her. As I grew older and began to understand the sexuality behind the outfits I was hooked. I began going to fetish shows and started working as a MUA for bondage websites and forced femme websites. I was down with anything that would give me an excuse to get dressed up. I love how powerful I feel when I put on a corset and super high heels.

Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into?

I enjoy light bondage and being restrained. I also enjoy dressing up (if you couldn't already tell). I enjoy wearing high heels, spanking, flogging, gags, and quite a few other fun things that I will keep to myself!
