Interview With Victoria
by Cary
What music first captured your ear and got you interested in music?
As a kid my dad listened to Polka which actually has some beginnings of punk sounds in it musically and lyrically.
My mom listened to Disco all the time, and although I didn't hate either one of them I didn't relate to it. A few years later I met a record store owner who got me tuned into 60's music. The first band that really got my heart pumping was the Doors. It was at that point I knew I had to take what I felt and make those feelings into sounds.
Do you come from a background of training in the arts?
No training although I grew up around Woodstock NY which is an Art Colony, So I was always surrounded by creativity and creative people.
How did you start working with your current band?
We'll there are a few bands I'm in.
I started with Slick Idiot in 2005. They are two Ex-members of KMFDM.
I met En Esch back in 2001 because my friend was staying there and I crashed there a bunch.
He would make these cool sounds and I would walk by humming things to them.
Fast forward 4 years later: En Esch called me and asked me if I would be interested in joining Slick Idiot.
My newest band is called "Hoosier Mamas" which I formed with my friend Beki Brindle whose in the rock and roll hall of fame in Ireland. She plays guitar as good as Clapton and the music is psycadelia which takes me back to why I started playing in the first place!
Do you prefer playing live or recording?
Those are two totally different things. I don't prefer one over the other.
I love playing live shows, it's a real thrill and honor to be up on the stage and meeting great people.
Recording is fantastic, especially when your in the creative process of it all.
I love that you never know what will come of both. Each show & recording are so different and when you look back you learn from them.
Where is your favorite place to perform?
The best venues I've played at:
Club Havok in Houston Texas, the venue was great, and it was an amazing looking place.
They had this dark grato like thing backstage, it was amazing, the whole thing was black light heaven.
Bar Sinister in Hollywood CA was one kick ass venue
Irving Plaza in NYC- played there many times with different bands and always a good experience
Has anything crazy ever happened at a show?
Omg yes!!!
There was a show I played at over the summer, it was a festival in Connecticut and as we we're packing up to go, we couldn't pull out of the parking spot.
We parked in an alleyway that was reserved for bands and there was a car in the way.
The car was unlocked so we opened the door, put the car in neutral and the band pushed the car onto the street.
It was hysterical but at the same time we were so scared we were going to get our asses wooped!
What excites you about fetish modeling?
I love the clothes!
Are there any other creative mediums you work in?
I love Photoshop. I create a lot of art on there, graphic design is something I could do for hours and hours and not get bored!
What kind of music do you like?
I like a large variety of music. I love vintage 40's tunes, ragtime, 60's psycadelia, Gothic, Industrial, New Wave, Rock, Pop, blues, you name it!
What do you like to do for fun?
For fun I like to write songs! I also enjoy watching movies at home and testing my brain.
