Interview With Sweet Maddness by Cary Sweet Maddness is one of the movers, shakers, and architects of the East Coast Goth/Industrial scene. How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM? I've been interested in the BDSM lifestyle since I was in my early teens. I went out with this guy for a few years that was really into it and it intrigued me learning about the lifestyle and mentality that goes into the whole thing. I'm very open-minded when it comes to exploring sexuality so I always get interested in learning about the different desires and passions that one attains. As far as fetish goes, I started going to those parties and meeting that whole "scene" of people with-in the last 5-6 years through other friends that were interested in the scene as well.
Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into? When I first became interested in the S&M lifestyle, that became a VERY big influence in my personal life. There's something about pain & restraint with someone you trust that's very pleasurable if done properly. I'm not really too big into the fetish scene. I enjoy the fashion and the ideas as well as what I see in clubs and at fetish parties I work at, however, nothing about that truly excites me. Kudos to all the people that are heavily into it. It's nice to enjoy and indulge your fantasies. :-)
What is your involvement in the fetish/goth/industrial scene? I'm a promoter, public relations executive, lighting operator, part-time go-go dancer & bartender in the NYC/NJ/Philly goth/industrial scene. I work with my best friends that started their own production company a few years back. Audiolust Productions. We do sound/lighting reinforcements, as well as rentals of lighting/sound equipment. I've been working and involved in this scene since I was about 16, originating back to the days of Albion/Batcave. After going to a few CYBERTRONS when they were first started by Jet(VampireFreaks.com) & Herman (Audiolust.com) I became good friends with all of them and we all started working together with other promoters around the area to make this "dying scene" better and bring it back to life while adding new twists and originality to things.
Are there any fetishes that you don't find appealing? Whatever floats your boat right??? :-)....Although the whole brown, roman and golden shower fetish never really tickled my fancy. x_x
What excites you about fetish modeling? It fun, its different and creative. People really put a lot of time and effort into these things. It's inspiring....
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in? I'm a big fan of vinyl anything. It's such a sexy material. I also think button-down shirts and dresses are amazing. Classy but sexy is my favorite type of look.
What are your least favorites? I've never really been a big fan of latex...
Do you think pinup and fetish are becoming part of the mainstream culture? I agree that a lot of the fashions are becoming more mainstream. People have become more open and accepting to the lifestyle of the fetish scene. I'm very big into fashion of all types, and I've noticed a lot within the last year or so that gothic and futuristic fashions are blending in with mainstream fashions. You'll see such fusions in department stores, online, in movies and television, clubs, etc. It's very intriguing.
What kind of music do you like? I love such a wide range of music! You'd definitely be surprised to hear some of the things I enjoy, Everything from classical…to electro/house/trance….to black and death metal…to hip/hop....to oldies. We are the music makers...and we are the dreamers of dreams. :-)
What do you like to do for fun? I'm completely content in life just simply hanging out with my friends. We can be doing anything...clubbing...going to the movies...or just chilling at someones house. I love my friends to pieces and would do anything for them. <3
