Interview With Surreal of Spankcandy by Cary Surreal of Spankcandy, Fetish Model and Performer changing your reality. How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM? Well I was born into a religious family and was home schooled up until high school when I met my first girlfriend (I am bisexual) My dad found us making out in the basement underneath the stairs...I always loved small spaces... he was mad and whipped me with his belt, that could have been the start of it. I always knew there was something different about my sexuality. I was frustrated with what I know now to be "vanilla sex" and even for a time thought that I just was not a sexual person, I didn't know what it was the I wanted, but I knew I hadn't found it yet. When I was 18 a lady came up to me at a local hang out spot called Slammers, she noticed my corset piercing and asked if I had any acting experience. I said yes and that was when I started performing for Spankcandy, a fetish/fantasy theatre group. This lady became my best friend and mentor, and it was through her that I met my first Dom. I knew to be the best kind of Domme, I would have to first gain experience as a submissive. Today I am a professional Domme, but still traveling an unending path of delving into my own soul and studying the souls of others, all thanks to strict discipline, and the loyal companion of bdsm : )
Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into? I very much enjoy bdsm in my personal life, in fact most of my friendships, relationships, and acquaintances involve communication on a very mental sometime physical bdsm level. It is the only way I know to express myself. I am into total power exchange, human/animal role play, any type of bondage and humiliation, wax, ice, wood, fire, water, complete degradation, brainwashing, torture, play rape with men, and sometimes women, age play, doll fetish, body painting, whipping, cropping, caning, and a million other little things and details that only those of our kind notice.
Are there any fetishes that you don't find appealing? There aren't any fetishes that I don't find appealing, however, there are situations that everyone will run across in the bdsm world that are extremely unappealing. Any situation where safety is not a priority, consent is threatened, or common respect is utterly absent will result in an unfavorable experience for whoever is involved. Also, I have come to notice that different things 'inspire' me about different people, I might want to beat severely one submissive, and another might invoke a more 'motherly' instinct. In this case, some things with one person may be unappealing, however, with the next, it might be first on the list of punishments : )
What excites you about fetish modeling? Exhibitionism, and it's ability to strengthen confidence and sense of one's place in the world. Also all of the great outfits and limitless possibilities for scenarios.
What kind of performance do you put on? Spankcandy provides an escape from reality and embraces fantasy in an event or club setting. Both obvious and obscure desires are presented in a way that the crowd often finds themselves transfixed to the performances and moved by the messages. It can morph your fantasy into reality on stage, bringing you an alternative style of live entertainment. Transcending the barriers of time, cultural taboo, and societal norms, the crowd can forget the limits of reality, if but for a night. From rock to symphony, demons to dolls, whips to feathers, sanctimonious beliefs to vampyric necromantic, no time will be left unvisited and no situation off limits. All to music that moves the body and mind, charged with energy similar to a rock concert! Think of it as a bouquet of performances that live out a plethora of people’s fantasies and desires. We are the conduit between the main stream and the avant garde. We nurture the hidden seeds of desire existing within one’s thoughts. Spankcandy excites the mind, “the forgotten libido”. It’s so unique and new that it’s hard to describe. You have to experience it! The numbers of acts are so many we are able to shuffle them to fit the theme of virtually any event. Categories range from Dramatic, Campy, Dark and Sensual, with many over lapping each other. Spankcandy can also change the act for gender preference events, to match everyone’s fantasy!
What's it like performing all over and experiencing the different scenes? It is definitely more hard work than anyone makes it out to be. Sometimes stress will get to people, backstage crew, or directors, or actors, but conquering obstacles proves to yourself what you can really do if you just endure, and trust me, it's ALL worth it in the end. I may not be famous yet, but I know that I have touched and changed at least a handful of lives simply by opening their eyes to this world, and that is an amazing feeling. The time I've spent performing has taught me more about life and about myself than all the years beforehand, knowledge is priceless, and I am so grateful.
Where is your favorite place to perform? The Uptown Theater in KC, big thanks to Dino!! He's the best! (house manager)
What kind of music do you like? I love all sorts of music, but not country... I bet you get that a lot... : )
What do you like to do for fun? I am in the process of writing a novel, I love reading, painting, playing piano, dancing, starting a little chaos, and generally making life more interesting...
