Interview With Sue LaRoo

by Cary

Sue LaRoo is an artist talented and brave enough to paint live in a noisy club and all around super cool person I'm glad I met.

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

I have always been interested in the fetish/BDSM culture, ever since I was a teenager. Not only was the scene of fetish and BDSM agreeable in personal interests, but it seemed to make sense in my personal awareness of self. In freshmen year of high school I became friendly with a few kids in my class, and their life style bewitched me. It's difficult to determine what it was exactly that attracted me. I suppose it was a gradual interest upon the discovery of fashion, music, and the general sort of the fetish and BDSM community.

Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into?

It's a vital factor to who I am as a person and how I conduct myself as a woman. I'm into many different types of fetish behavior, but I admit that dirty talk, sensory deprivation, and light physical restriction plays a big part in activates behind closed doors.

You're also a painter, do you come from a fine arts background?

Yes, very much so. Art and creativity run deep in my family. My mother is a fantastic painter (much like her father). Both of them were self taught at a young age. My dad is a carpenter, and reminds me of MacGyver.

When you paint live in a club, what is that process like?

I have a few sketches that I study before hand, and I usually pick out a few that are pretty easy to duplicate onto canvas. This way I'm ready to go as soon as I set up my work station. It's important to stick with colors and techniques that I'm familiar with because I don't have the time to mess up and start over.

Is it difficult to create with the distractions in that kind of environment?

I try to accommodate the sights and sounds of my environment, which is extraordinarily difficult. The best way to deal with the distractions is to use them as inspiration for my work. I really need to lock myself out of everything going on around me so I can concentrate.

What kind of music do you like?

electro, drum and bass, death metal, punk, industrial, progressive house, ebm, synthpop, dark wave, hard house, electronica, trip hop, psy trance…..

…… I really like anything that evokes raw emotion.

What do you like to do for fun?

Bumming around with my boyfriend and gal pal is a rarity, and a greatly enjoyed activity.
