Interview With Sadie Djevelen

by Cary

I'd like to think I discovered Sadie, but obviously she always knew she was there! She's super cool, super smart and super popular around here and we're proud to have her back for a second interview.

This is your second appearance in Fixe Magazine, what was the reaction the first time?

Oh I had nothing but positive feedback! I got quite a few comments from people who liked my first interview, and I'm very grateful for that. Thank you for taking the time to feature me!

Classic pinup has become a huge phenomena lately, what about it first captured your interest?

Classic pin-up portrays a kind of glamor and beauty that is often missing nowadays. I have always been intrigued by the pin-up girl's subtle naughtiness over the blatant sluttiness that the mainstream media constantly berates us with. Pin-up models provide a sensual breath of fresh air. Not that I don't like me some sluts sometimes, they just don't have the same charm.

You're someone who could obviously model in a number of other mediums, have you ever?

To date, no I haven't. I have only modeled in pin-up and fetish style. However, I'm always open to new opportunities.

And what keeps you coming back to fetish modeling?

Fetish is magic. I love the powerful transformative quality that classic fetish items carry. I am endlessly enraptured the contradictions and how they often blur together. Savage and sensual, male and female, worship and punishment.

Are there any aspects of fetish modeling you don't enjoy?

I haven't yet found an aspect that I dislike! We'll see.

Do you think fetishism and sex and intrinsically connected, or can they be separate?

Fetish is just one small part to the whole spectrum of human sexuality. For me, sex and fetish go hand in hand, but I believe they can be explored separately if that is that is what one desires. The possibilities are truly endless.

What advice would you give to someone who is new to the scene?

Take advantage of as many resources as you can to learn and explore. Take your time to become informed and have fun with it! Fetish is something to be enjoyed.

Are there any other creative mediums you work in?

Nothing major. I occasionally play keyboards for my brother's band and draw portraits as a hobby on the side.

Read any good books lately?

Oh yes! I just finished up with SM 101 by Jay Wiseman and The Medical Science of House M.D by Andrew Holtz. SM/BDSM is a subject that often carries a lot of stigma, and Mr. Wiseman's book is a positive, informative introduction to the scene, whether you are interested in participating or just curious to learn more. I'm quite an avid viewer of the show House M.D. and have always wondered how many of the medical processes and outlandish diseases are true or fabricated. Mr. Holtz' book explains it all. For a fictional television show, House actually sticks pretty well to the facts.

I am currently reading Mindfulness by psychologist Ellen J. Langer and Our Inner Ape by primatologist Fraans De Waal. Both very fascinating books.
