Interview With Roswell Ivory

by Cary

An Interview with the lovely Roswell Ivory, Writer and Model.

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

I’ve always been “alternative” and when I discovered latex clothing, fetish was a natural progression. I think my ex-boyfriends (all two of them) thought I was a little weird!
I only realized there was a name for it when I bought a latex dress and got into a conversation with the woman in the shop! I started going to clubs and was approached about modeling, through which I met the people behind several magazines I now write for. Several years on, the fetish scene still fascinates me!

Are there any fetishes that you don't find appealing?

I know it’s a common fetish and a lot of people find it appealing, but I’ve always been a little creeped-out by schoolgirl outfits, especially on women who obviously haven’t been to school in several decades!
(And no scat or necrophilia please!!!)

What excites you about fetish modeling?

Apart from the amazing clothes? ;o)

I love traveling internationally and exploring the countries that I go to. One of the best experiences I have had was in Madrid. I only went for a day and as my photoshoot was in the evening, I spent the whole day exploring on my own. I took myself to an aquarium, ate paella and learned some Spanish! I’m planning a trip to Los Angeles later this year.

I also enjoy working with such a wide variety of people- they all have stories to tell, which inspires me as a writer.

What are your favorite types of outfits to model in?

I love anything different to the usual- I’m a huge fan of couture latex and leather, like Atsuko Kudo latex or Mother of London. I also love the futuristic look- if it could be from a sci-fi/action film; it usually finds its way into one of my photoshoots!

What are your least favorites?

While it’s my job as a model to advertise outfits, I’m not very inspired by generic “sex shop” clothes. Luckily I haven’t ever been asked to model any! ;o)

Do you think pinup and fetish are becoming part of the mainstream culture?

I think that pin-up/burlesque has gained positive publicity due to the success of ladies like Dita Von Teese and because it is an alternative to the tacky glamour that has become the norm. I wouldn’t say that it is mainstream yet, though it may become so in the next few years.

However, I think that the word “fetish” still has a taboo about it as there are many assumptions people make about the scene. I think that while fetish fashion is becoming more widely accepted, I doubt that the scene ever will be. (And some may prefer it that way!)

What kind of music do you like?

Anything from old rock (Guns n Roses etc) and industrial music to bleepy EBM and some truly awful pop! I like most music as long as it isn’t garage, hip-hop or that “I Kissed a Girl” song!

do you like to do for fun?

Anything creative- I paint and write a lot and am working on a novel. I’ve also been studying karate for a few years now.

When I’m not doing any of those, I love spending time shopping, then going to Torture Garden or Festival of Sins with my friends and crawling home in the morning to eat crumpets for breakfast!
