What inspired you to pick up a camera?
When I was a kid every time I seen my grandpa he had a camera in his hands, My grandpa used to set up a little home studio and shoot portraits of me and my brother. Every chance I could get my hands on a camera I would shoot all day long and my favorite type of camera as a kid was a Polaroid. When I turned 18 I went and bought my very first DSLR a nikon D40 and from there on it became my passion.
What particular challenges do you face with Erotic photography as opposed to other genres?
My girlfriend letting me! haha jk. I have shot somethings that can be considered erotic but I try to mostly focus on Glamour and beauty aspect. I have a style that gives off that erotic look but it's not a conventional photo you would think when you hear the word erotic.
Do you prefer to shoot with film or digital?
I prefer to shoot digitally only because I like the freedom to "waste" a frame if need be... I like the fact that I can digitally edit my images and I feel it gives you a lot bigger range, Although I do want to start shooting film so give that grainy vintage look.
What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future?
I really want to do something that is super high fashion really high key lighting, Big hair and cool makeup. I have a vision in my head of what I want it to look like but just have to put it in words to make it happen.
What advice would you have for anyone just starting out in the industry?
Great words I heard from someone before was "fake it till you make it" and by that I mean, People will take you very seriously if you act professional, and like you own the place no one wants to work with someone that second guesses themselves. you have to act like you have been doing it a long time but not cocky about it. just take control of a shoot and meet everyone you can, because it is sad but true ITS ALL ABOUT WHO YOU KNOW!
Are there any other creative mediums you work in?
I Love to HDR photographs and I can get very creative with those because of the surreal look you can add to them. A lot of people say that HDR's are cheating but I can work some magic with them like very few can.
What kind of music do you like?
My favorite type of music is indie Rock because of the light and relaxing feel to it. I like music that I can listen to and at the same time edit with out it being to distracting.
What do you like to do for fun?
my favorite thing I like to do in my spare time is go to Disneyland with my girlfriend, I love that place but hate their prices! haha and a very close second would be shooting landscapes with my buddy Randy. There is few things I love more then going out into the fresh air and shooting a landscape for hours to see what variations of the same scene I can come up with.
