How did you get started modeling?
My father owned a modeling agency in Charlotte, NC in the late 1980s and in the early 90s owned an alternative clothing store, so I suppose it was in my genes to become an "alternative model." As a child I was in a few MTV commercials and a Lifetime movie (shhh!!!). Later on I predominately started off in the music industry at the age of 14 working with various bands in the darker music circuit from black metal to industrial. After touring a bit I ended up shooting with band photographers at 16 and was traveling and shooting since then!
What excites you about modeling?
It is a great way of self expression as well as meeting amazing new people and collaborating ideas. Every one I have met has had a genuinely unique idea or we have worked on something I have brought to the table. It's a rush to actually see finished images that you had in your head that is now reality. Modeling is also great motivation and keeps me thinking as to what I can accomplish next.
Do you come from a background of training in the arts?
As far as a set trained background in the arts, I have little or none as a child. I studied French and Portuguese in high school as well as taking some ballet and dance here and there. I worked on various projects in school, but outside of school and even before graduation I was making clothing and purses out of paint cans to sell to other students (mostly the ones that didn't like me) and continued to play around with different mediums and genres of style. I currently am a double major in Fashion Design and Marketing here in Atlanta and plan to pursue that while modeling in between.
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in?
The word "outfit" can be defined in so many ways, and personally things that most people do not consider to be one is what I enjoy modeling the best. Unconventional materials or items (props that could be anywhere from a back brace to bird skulls to giant working machinery) I have the most fun with. Latex is a general interest and if it goes along any military or medical guidelines, I am more likely to model them. I've even shot while wearing a noose I cooked up for myself.
What are your least favorites?
I don't know if I actually have a "least favorite." Though mainstream clothing companies I model for seem to be very straight forward on looks, I still have a blast shooting and don't think even the most seemingly mundane shoot could be put in this category.
How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?
Before even working with fetish companies, I always had an interest in different fetishes and BDSM. Whether it be medical/blood play to simple restraints - I always had a knack of finding something new and fun to divulge in. Single cell, the fetish company I worked for, widened the horizon and took fetish public for my own public view. Working around dungeons and live acts proved to broaden my perception on what people were actually thinking behind closed doors. This year even I worked for the top sex furniture and toy manufacturing companies that literally shot scenes and their own photo shoots in the same building that I worked in. I think my mind is used to this sort of thing by now.
Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into?
Personal life may be a little too extreme for you guys - so I'll leave it up to your imagination :)
What is it about Tattoos that intrigues you?
Tattooing to me is more than just ink on skin or a lower back tattoo of a butterfly someone got when they were drunk. I started getting tattooed on my 18th birthday and haven't stopped since (I think I'm at 15 or 16 now, I can't even count them). Each tattoo has a meaning to me in different way or a time period in my life. My right half sleeve, which is usually referred to as my dead Virgin Mary or "Venus Blue," is based on that particular Acid Bath song that the lyrics had meaning to events of the time I got it. The newest ones on my feet are 10-56 and 10-13, both being codes for suicide for the police and hospital. My mother wasn't very happy about those. I am looking to do more photo shoots involving tattoos now since I have become so immersed in the subculture.
Are there any other creative mediums you work in?
As explained above, I make clothing that is mostly modifying or making clothing from scraps and using anything from metal scrapings, gears, paint, bleach, rivets, teeth, bones, or even cat skulls to make it one of a kind. I have branched off to now making more tailored clothing as I get farther into my degree and have a weird addiction to lace.
What kind of music do you like?
This is a question I get on most interviews, and I can't really give you a genre. Well produced music, no matter what the genre is, catches my eye. I am a sucker for 80s and 90s music as well as experimental music. A lot of friends and acquaintances work in the music industry so I am surrounded by different types constantly. If you had to peg me at the current moment, I am having a slight addiction to "Pretty Lights." I believe their show was one of the best I've seen in my life.
What do you like to do for fun?
Saved the best question for last, egh? Fun for me usually involves a road trip, various metal objects (baseball bats, crowbars, etc.), music, cameras, and exploring. I scout out places to visit in my spare time and when I have money by booking paid shoots and always set life out to be an adventure. As long as I have my friends around, nothing can be boring. Side Fact: Though I'm terrified, I am determined to go skydiving one day with a photographer. Latex and sky diving? I think it would be a first.
