What excites you about modeling?
I love working with new people and getting their perspectives. People who don't know me often ask "who is your photographer," as if I only work with one person. In fact, getting many different viewpoints is what excites me about modeling. I love when someone has a vision and I am able to contribute to bringing that vision to life.
Do you come from a background of training in the arts?
I do have a background in the arts. I wanted to be a painter when I was little and always had a sort of classical aesthetic. My passion now is acting and I have a degree in Theater Arts.
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in?
I obviously love classic pinup outfits! I enjoy showing skin but am paradoxically kind of modest so the pinup thing really works for me.
What are your least favorites?
I like to think I can model in anything, though comfort becomes a big consideration after a few hours on a shoot.
Classic pinup has become a huge phenomena lately, what about it first captured your interest?
I love that classic pinup is joyful and life-affirming, as opposed to some of the darker, "edgier" themes that mainstream fashion seems to be exploring at the moment. The models always seem happy in the moment and in their own skin, which is hugely gratifying to be a part of.
Are there any other creative mediums you work in?
I also act, and can be seen in the upcoming feature Psycho-Path as Dr. Troy.
What kind of music do you like?
I listen to a lot of world music and am a big fan of Angelique Kidjo, Johnny Klegg, and Fela Kuti. I have no idea how I got into the Afro-pop scene but I really like it! I also listen to a lot of classic rock, and when I sing karaoke will always gravitate toward songs by Bob Dylan and Creedence Clearwater Revival. I love their music but it also has to do with me having a deep voice!
What do you like to do for fun?
I love going out with my girl friends or staying in with the boyfriend. As long as there is good conversation and the wine is freely flowing, I'm happy!
