Interview With NN Star Photography by Cary NN Star is responsible for really cool photography. What inspired you to pick up a camera? I really don't even know. I was always obsessed with it. I've got the creativity of a little kid and its like a way to make the impossible more like a reality. I contemplated it for a while and then when Melanie Pullen released a series called High Fashion Crime Scenes (www. melaniepullen. com), it inspired me. I've only been at this for about a year now.
What particular challenges do you face with erotic photography as opposed to other genres? I have really don't all to much erotic photography, only a few sets, but it doesn't bother me. I am more concerned with the angle and position of the model that I almost don't notice whats going on. Even when editing them later on, you are just working to make it look good. Do you prefer to shoot with film or digital? I know this statement will piss off a lot of photographers but, I'm only a digital photographer. I have never worked with film.
How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?
I am interested in all forms of alternative art, personally I just find things that wander on from the mainstream far more interesting. I'd say I like alternative things more than fetish and all, but in general its all just fun.
Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into? Oddly enough, I'm a boring plain jane. Nothing all to crazy for me.
Do you think pinup and fetish are becoming part of the mainstream culture? Fetish is becoming more spoken about, I think its always been around. As for pinup, thats almost a trick question. Like the real root up pinup are still around, but todays work seems to be a more modernized version on pinup, and its growing fast.
Are there any other creative mediums you work in? I like to write, poetry is always fun. Besides that, music. That was my original passion.
What kind of music do you like? Oh man, I like a lot of it. A mix tape by me is going to range from 90's alternative, old metal, hardcore, post hardcore, and some new poprock stuff. I'm a total sucker for Glassjaw though, they will always have a special place in my heart.
What do you like to do for fun? Well, photography for one, obviously. But besides that I'm a research junkie, I love learning new stuff about everything. Everything 50's and 90's fascinates me. I like outdoor things too, thats a pretty big one for me. Now that I'm finally 21 Atlantic City is always good, I've been a poker kid for a long time too. I dunno, I'm really all about just having a good time. See more of NN Star Photography at: http://www.modelmayhem.com/610764 http://www.myspace.com/NNStarPhotography
