Interview With Monique Dupree AKA Original Gata by Cary Fetish Model, Actress, Scream Queen and Musician Monique Dupree AKA The Original Gata, will be appearing in person at Our Fetish Prom Party May 2nd at QXTs. How did you first get interested in acting? I've always known that I wanted to entertain people in some form or fashion. I wasn't sure whether it would be through, singing, acting, modeling, dancing or all of the above. I've always entertained. It's just my natural state of being. But there was something about acting in my early teens, that really interested me more than anything else. Just the idea of being someone else, if only for a little while and seeing if you can successfully pull it off. It grew into such a passion and longing to be in front of the camera...transforming. My family used to sit around during Christmas and go "Monique, are you going to perform this year?" and just like that, me & my cousins would run into the bedroom, find some clothes (usually not our own clothing, lol) and put some routines together. We just thought we were hot stuff and in high demand because our family wanted us to perform.
Do you come from a background of training in the arts? I had very little training. I attended a school called "Arts High School" which is one of the magnet schools in Newark, NJ. I attended the school for drama, but I didn't attend the school very long. Around that time, I also had vocal training from a pianist named "Robert Banks." Other than that, I learned from my family. My mother had a singing group of her own and my uncle co-owned a small production company. He would use me as a child runway model, starting at the age of 7. I was surrounded by people who entertained in some form or fashion, its always been apart of me.
What was the first part you played? The first part that I ever played in a movie was Lean on me" (wow that really dates me, lol)
What else might we have seen you in? It depends on what you watch. I've been on shows like, The Tyra Banks show and law & order..I've done films like American Gangster as well. but I'm most proud of my accomplishments as an indie horror actress with such credits as Bachelor party in the bungalow of the damned, skeleton key 2, Satan hates you, pot zombies etc.
What projects do you have coming up in the future? I currently have 11 film projects set for this year, including a German film. In addition, I have a lot of club appearances on the east coast between now and august.
How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM and do you use it in your personal life? I didn't even know that there was such a term...at first. In the public eye, I've always been very dominating and commanding of what it is that I want. I had someone that I used to see. I'd go over his house just to step all over him with 6 inch heels and make him kiss my feet IF he was deservant. It was the greatest feeling to me. I was SO ignorant to the fact that there was an entire life out there dedicated to such things, lol. In my private life, I've always been very submissive and to this day, I have a room with nothing but ropes, paddles, cuffs, bungee rope, leashes..you name it..its prob here,lol So I supposes you could say that I've been interested for a long time..I just never put a title on it. I've always been who I am..regardless of a label.
What excites you about fetish modeling? what doesn't?!!!! I love dressing up!! I used to be the "classic model" you know, runway, modeling things that were "in". then I found fetish modeling. Its such a natural state of my being. I love the corsets and the latex..modeling equipment (you know what I'm talking about) I've never fit into society's standard of anything!!!!! My entire life is unconventional...dare I say eccentric. Fetish modeling for me, was the closest thing to something that I didn't have to pretend to love.
What magazines have you been published in? I've done the following magazines: Fangoria, Scars Magazine, The Spanish GQ, the Spanish ScI FI magazine, the Yo Magazine, Vicious Betty's magazine, Primera Linnea, Sirens of Cinema, and the Autograph magazine. I'm due to be published in two more Spanish magazines in the next couple of months.
What kind of music do you like? I love just about anything (Let me just say that I pray to the god of Prince and Nirvana) ...except country. But I do love cowboy hats :)
What do you like to do for fun? I have many things that bring me pleasure..having 7 children, you obviously know 1 of them, lol
