Interview With Mistress Natalya

by Cary

"I am an educator, boss, therapist, drill sergeant, interrogator. There are many words to describe Me, what I do, and the roles I will play. I am a versatile Dominant Female."

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

My first sexual experience involved elements of D/s and BDSM. For a long time I didn't know there was a name for what felt natural to me during intimate encounters...let alone a lifestyle. After my first sexual relationship ended, I tried to tie up, tease, and spank boy and girlfriends. They weren't willing participants and thought all of this was, "weird". I lived a vanilla life for about four years before I met a male switch. We played heavily privately and I learned a lot from him. I remember being very excited there were groups of people who openly met and discussed their interests and fetishes during "munches". The more I play, the more I learn and appreciate.

And how did you transition from an interest to it being a profession?

When I was graduating college, the company I worked for started to fold. For some reason I was extremely nervous to not have a job right out of college. I started thinking about my passion for video production, audio editing, and photography. How could I fuel this fire and do something really interesting? What would be something fun I'd regret not trying?

I started researching professional domination online. A few places mentioned being trained as a submissive first before being allowed to take pro dom sessions. I thought this was a great idea at the time. After looking at a few local houses of domination, I finally decided to contact Jade's Dungeon. Without knowing whether or not they were hiring, I sent a concise email to introduce myself and state my intentions. I told them I was willing to be trained as a submissive first before learning to dominate someone professionally, but I had played quite a bit in my personal life. The owner asked me what types of things I did in my personal life and asked me to send a photo.

I interviewed and was told I was a pro dom and needed to get a corset. Luckily, one of the ladies who'd worked there for a few years took me under her wing and taught me a lot! The houseboy was also very open to sharing his knowledge.

Knowledge not shared is wasted, so I eventually taught the Intro to BDSM classes through the Discovery Center of Chicago for two years and presented at Northwestern University. Fast forward a few years and I ended up managing the commercial dungeon. I won't go into the details, but I ended up leaving to work as an independent Mistress. There are some lovely ladies I currently work with, and I'm so happy I made that leap when I did.

What can someone seeing you as a Pro Domme for the first time expect?

First and foremost, expect a power exchange. I have a thorough negotiation process in which I treat the person as a fellow human being with a fantasy. That all changes when she or he enters the dungeon. I craft an experience that involves the person's interests, but exposes her or him to other activities within that individual's boundaries.

The thrill of anticipation and not knowing what will happen next is something I love to dabble in. Timing is everything.

What excites you about fetish modeling?

I haven't really done much fetish modeling. Most of the shoots I've done have been for my website or for video production companies. That being said, I've enjoyed the collaboration with directors, videographers, photographers and fellow models. I hope to do more and more in the future. Capturing both fun and intimate moments of play time and fetish indulgence has been amazing! I like being a part of something genuine-both seeing and feeling the synergy between everyone involved.

What are your favorite types of outfits to model in?

I love rubber. It's such a versatile material, and I enjoy the ritual of putting it on. Lately, I've been getting into vintage fashion. Girdles, seamed stockings, and bullet bras have been particularly appealing to me.

What are your least favorites?

I don't like PVC and I can't wear heels that put my feet at an extreme angle. This is due to a foot injury. While I love the look of those heels, sadly, I can't pull it off.

What advice would you have for someone just staring out in the fetish scene?

It's important to have a full grasp of what you will and won't do. Trust your instincts. They're there for a reason.

Do you think fetish is becoming part of the mainstream culture?

Yes! Two years ago I saw a lady wearing a shirt that said, "What's your fetish?" Since she was quite attractive, I decided to take the initiative and say, "my fetish is rubber. Do you care to share yours?" She looked completely mortified and mumbled something about how she thought the shirt was "cool and edgy". So, I think the word, "fetish", is being used a lot more in mainstream culture-especially for commercial gain.

We have a lot more large scale fetish parties world wide. Pop stars are wearing rubber in music videos and businesses, like Bebe, are incorporating FemDom imagery in their ad campaigns... Maybe we've carved out our own niche in mainstream culture? I'm not sure. Time will tell.

What kind of music do you like?

I have an eclectic set of musical tastes. Typically I say, "anything that inspires me, makes me want to shake my ass, or do delightfully evil things to people."

What do you like to do for fun?

Besides my kinky interests, I love to read, go to museums, dance, go to wine tastings, watch burlesque, write, and travel whenever I can. Basically, I try to experience as much as possible and love to be spontaneous!
