Interview With Mistress Kay by Cary Up and coming Domme and Fetish Model Mistress Kay, we're sure she'll be a big deal soon and we're getting in on the ground floor! :) How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM? It was kind of something that was always in My blood, so to speak. Actually, in what was technically My first D/s relationship, it was kind of something that I just did naturally without even realizing it; I hadn't really ever discussed the lifestyle with anyone, so at the time My only understanding of a dominatrix was the stereotypical mental image of the whip-wielding, leather-clad Amazon... but I basically had a boyfriend of Mine in mental bondage to Me back in high school. And how did you transition from an interest to it being a profession? I really started to get into the lifestyle a couple years ago when I met My roommate and Mentor who is a lifestyle Male Dom. He put Me in contact with a pro-Domme friend of His out in LA, Ms. J. She graciously offered to take Me under Her wing and I went out there and apprenticed to Her over the summer..that was when I really began learning the "tricks of the trade".
What can someone seeing you as a Pro Domme for the first time expect? I actually currently consider Myself a lifestyle semi-pro Domme, firstly because I'm still working on establishing Myself, networking within My local community, and getting My face and name out there; secondly because I feel I'm still in the process of honing, fine tuning, and really mastering My craft. Good technique is really important; ie: while you're hurting someone, you also don't want to do permanent damage ... or as My Mentor puts it, "If you break your toys, you can't play with them anymore." The good thing about My being fairly new to the scene is that I'm all about pushing My own limits and trying new things, too ... there were a few things I never thought I'd try, but the first lesson Ms. J. taught Me was to "Never say 'never' and never say 'always.'" And some of the things I thought I'd never try actually wound up being some of My favorite things after I watched someone else bring energy and enthusiasm and just have so much fun doing them
that it inspired Me to want to try it Myself. As long as I'm able to establish a good dynamic and chemistry with a submissive, I have a lot of fun in sessions and bring a lot of energy to the scene... when I'm on, I'm on. I get such a giddy, sadistic pleasure out of watching people's reactions to what I'm doing to them that I could probably give someone a contact high. I'm also pretty good with aftercare; I believe one should dismantle nothing without full intent to restore.
What excites you about fetish modeling?
Any outlet through which I can express Myself is always exciting for Me.
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in? Corsets, leather, pvc, latex, fishnet... and I LOVE boots, much to the chagrin of My foot worship guys *laughs*
What are your least favorites? I don't do nudie pics... sometimes people seem to have the mistaken assumption that living alternatively and unconventionally is synonymous with a lack of personal standards. While I certainly don't judge anyone else if that's what they're into, I personally prefer to maintain My air of enigma and leave something to the imagination.
What advice would you have for someone just staring out in the fetish scene? Read up on everything, network. Also find a Mentor/Mentors who you respect and trust, who support your growth, and who keep you accountable ... that, above all else, has made all the difference to Me. Most importantly, never imagine that you have nothing left to learn; be open to growing and evolving every day.
Do you think fetish is becoming part of the mainstream culture? Maybe not part of the mainstream culture, but like so many other formally "taboo" cultures - the gay and lesbian community for example - I believe it's become a lot more accepted. Of course there will always be some exceptions to the rule, but with each generation as a whole, society in general seems to gradually become more inclined to simply "live and let live," which is pretty nice.
What kind of music do you like? I'm not kidding when I say I listen to everything: indie, classic rock, alternative, reggae, R&B, jazz, electronica, techno.. you name it, I like it... or at least I like something similar. I grew up watching Rogers and Hammerstein musicals, and I had five years of vocal training, primarily in Broadway and jazz. During a scene, I lean more towards rock/electronica/techno, just for the energy. Portishead is one of My favorite bands to scene to.
What do you like to do for fun? I always like to say I bring My own fun... for Me it's less about what I'm doing more about the people I'm with. See more of Mistress Kay at: .rammhaus.com/ramm/rammgirls/62-mistress-k-bio
