Interview With Mistress Dominae Drakonis by Cary “I lecture, teach, demonstrate and perform and have been featured on the WE network's The Secret Lives of Women and The History Channel's Monsterquest. I will be releasing My first video, a "how to/how not to" instructional video on Domination and submission later this year.” How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM? I became interested in BdSm when I was in My early 20's and an old boyfriend came back into My life. He had been in a relationship while we were apart with a woman who was into BdSm and we began to experiment - I tried both roles as a submissive and a Dominant. I learned very quickly that being Dominant was what I enjoyed the most and was most skilled at.
And how did you transition from an interest to it being a profession? I was a lifestyle Domme for many years before becoming professional. But I would go to clubs and play. Many people just assumed from My appearance and the way that I carried Myself that I was a professional. People would approach Me and want to play and eventually I was being offered money for Domination scenes. So, I guess you can say that I just eased into it.
What can someone seeing you as a Pro Domme for the first time expect? Well, first of all while I appear to be quite intimidating, especially when I'm dressed in My vampire or domme outfits, I think most people are surprised by how easy going and down to earth I am. I have a nurturing quality even though I am very sadistic. I am also very sensual and not the type to yell out commands. I am worshiped and served because I deserve to be, not because I bully or demand it. I make My new clients feel very comfortable and gain their trust almost immediately.
What kinds of people book sessions with you? Most of My clients are married gentlemen or men in relationships who have had experience in BdSm but do not have a BdSm relationship with their significant others. They are professionals who usually have a very dominant role in their businesses and seek to escape that role for a while with Me. I do accept newcomers and don't mind training them as long as they realize that they must be obedient and respectful always. I've been very fortunate in the kinds of clients I get. They are obedient, respectful generally good, kind people.
What are your specialties? Vampire roleplay is certainly one of My specialties but most of My sessions are not vampire sessions. I'm also excellent in flogging, spanking, paddling, tease and denial, sissification, bondage, servant training, cropping and nearly any form of corporeal punishment.
What kinds of equipment do you use? My favorite tool to use is My hands. I have an extremely powerful grip and also use My nails to scratch and tease. I'm an amazing spanker and pincher. As I've said I'm very sensual but very sadistic so My hands are best for both areas. I also love to flog, crop and paddle. I love non conventional tools as well - "pervertables" if you will, and love using every day items to tease and torture.
Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into? Yes, I am a lifestyler as well. I enjoy all different kinds of play. The best thing about living with someone and being in a lifestyle relationship with them is that you can be as spontaneous as you want to be. Whatever we feel like doing, we do.
What advice would you have for someone just staring out in the fetish scene? This is a great question. First of all, I would tell them to spend time at clubs or events just talking and observing before actually playing with anyone. There are many different kinds of people and relationships in the scene and they shouldn't just take on the first person they meet. Just like any other relationship two people have to "click." Trust is paramount in a BdSm relationship so get to know the person your playing with. I know many people who's first experience in BdSm was a bad one simply because they jumped into it. Whether you are Dominant or submissive don't be afraid to ask questions and let the other person know your concerns and limitations. A BdSm relationship should be one of growth for both parties and the outcome should be positive no matter what you may have to endure during your scenes. Domination should never be abuse and should be done with care and concern for the submissive, emotionally, mentally and physically.
Do you think fetish is becoming part of the mainstream culture? Yes, I definitely feel that it is. You can turn on the television and see characters who are into BdSm on prime time shows now. It's on comedy shows and even in commercials. Of course, it's not always shown in a positive light or shown accurately which is a problem.
What kind of music do you like? I enjoy many kinds of music, from classical to industrial. I love Tool, Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Radiohead, Annie Lennox, The White Stripes, Hector Berlioz and The Doors to name a few. My favorite song is "Blister in the Sun" by The Violent Femmes.
What do you like to do for fun? I love to go to Goth/Vamp/Fetish events in the city or visit a museum or bookstore (I LOVE books!) I'm also a writer and artist. I love the horror genre so I love a good horror movie and collect horror memorabilia as well. I love to go to concerts. When it's warm out I love to go to the beach or pool and I can spend hours in the woods enjoying the beauty of nature.
