Interview With Miss Baby Bones by Cary Miss Baby Bones brings a darkly humorous twist to Pinup and Burlesque performance. Classic pinup has become a huge phenomena lately, what about it first captured your interest? I've always loved the classic Playboy bunny girl image; nothing too sordid but a lovely classic image of a curvy lady in a cute costume. And it went from there. Obviously classics like Bettie Page. Very iconic pictures of beauty. I really took to the photos of Betty that were taken by Bunny Yeager, who was also a model. I loved the idea of a sexy female photographer.
What do you think about pinup becoming part of the mainstream culture? Theres good and bad points. its great you see it everywhere and its more accessible. its nice to see really different styles, something a bit different.
What is it that excites you about pinup modeling? I like to see proper shapes of women, curvy and healthy. Also lots of tattoos and backgrounds. Theres nothing more dull than the identikit models you get in mainstream fashion.
Are there any other creative mediums you work in? As well as performing burlesque routines I produce my own cabaret shows Club Smooch and do band/live music promotions. I have a shop in Brighton that is mostly rock music memorabilia, but one of my burlesque dancers Miss Honey Moon sells her hand made fascinators and hair accessories in the shop.
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in? Expensive ones that I wouldnt have to pay for! Or in reality, all the costumes iI'e had at the back of my wardrobe for a while and forgotten about.
What are your least favorites? I'm not keen on silk stockings. I think they just feel saggy. I know everyone loves them, but they;re saggy! I prefer fishnets.
What kind of music do you like? Rock music mostly.
What do you like to do for fun? Organising events is fun for me. that may be a bit nuts, but its very satisfying watching something come together. whether thats a burlesque show or a sweaty band gig, I like to see something done well.
