Interview With Mistress LunaSea

Amazing Pro Domme Mistress LunaSea shares her experience and expertise with us.

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

To Me, fetish comes alive in all of us without our even knowing it at birth. Smelling and feeling our parents’ soft clothes, cologne, or the sound of high heels clicking signifying Mom was coming, etc. contribute to imprinting us. I could go on and on with examples of early fetish development which occurs throughout our lives. From stuffed animals, dolls, rubber toys, or wanting to play pony as a kid. The list is really endless on how, where, and why we have fetishes. It's one of My favorite subjects..

BDSM is one also one of those things that I think people participate in whether they know it or not. From using a scarf or hose to tie up or blindfold your lover to eating food off your partner to smacking someone’s ass during sex, many people engage in BDSM regularly oftentimes without even realizing it.

I also delved into BDSM by being an observer of others in the gay mens’ leather clubs in the 80's. I didn't really understand the whole Daddy/boy scene, but I found it interesting and only ever saw one female couple dressed in leather. It was definitely a man's world from what it looked like. Then, in 1999, I had a chance to go to a workshop put on by the LGBT community called “BDSM 101.” I went and sat on the front row of a packed room. People were so curious they were standing in the door way to hear the presentation. My partner at the time refused to go and went to a different workshop. A month later, we went to a gay mens’ Halloween party where I dressed in a bra, thongs, leather jacket, and boots with a small flogger in My hand. My partner was in a leather vest and pants; and I lead her on a collar and leash. I jerked on her leash and laughed most of the night. She was very annoyed and said to Me,"Don't get used to this. It's never going to happen with us.” We were a hit at the party. Unfortunately, My partner became very unhappy with My new found empowerment and thirst to know more about the lifestyle, and we eventually we parted ways. It was apparent to Me that we were growing in different directions once I finally opened Pandora’s Box. My interest in BDSM/fetishes contributed to Me ending our long term relationship; however, I have no regrets.

Getting involved in fetish performance and modeling was the next step that occurred in My evolution. A dear friend of Mine gave Me a pile of fetish magazines from all over the world with beautiful women in latex, bizarre scenarios in the photo shoots, and the wildest shoes and boots that I had ever seen. I have always had a shoe and boot fetish. To Me, they always represented Female Power. It certainly added a tremendous fuel to the fire to see these magazines. A whole new world had been opened to Me, and I had to be one of those outrageously dressed women for I was already dressing in leopard with colorful wigs and rhinestone glasses. People have always stopped Me off and on in My life to compliment Me on My style. Fetish clothes, shoes, and all that goes with the fetish of dressing is a lifestyle in and of itself for Me.

And how did you transition from an interest to it being a profession?

Once I was introduced to BDSM, I spent two years reading day and night as well as practically living on the computer doing research about the lifestyle. I absorbed Myself into as many workshops and conventions as I possible could. I have deliberately sought out learning from some of the best in the world. And besides going on the convention circuit to learn, I also do quite a bit of teaching, shows, photos shoots and recently some film work. I had ended My relationship, left My job, and was taking this all very seriously as I always want to be the best at whatever I do and learn from the best at all costs. Early on, I struggled with whether I was contributing to dishonesty in couples’ relationships. However, after much soul searching and research, I decided that people were going to do what they wanted and needed to do to make themselves happy and that it really wasn't My job to be invested in couples’ relationships. After that, it was very easy when I realized that I could get paid for just being Myself and treating men the way that I always had. Ultimately, I have observed that sessions often help relationships.

What can someone seeing you as a Pro Domme for the first time expect?

They can expect the unexpected. I don't like for sessions to be scripted, and I am sensual with a strong sadistic side. An evil, devious-sounding laugh is the norm throughout My sessions unless it is a sensory deprivation session. Someone coming to see Me will be quite surprised to see the vast array and selection of toys, implements, and dungeon furniture. Also, I always dress in fetish clothes because it is one of My fetishes. I have many different looks from being a redhead in a catsuit to a Betty Page-style Dominatrix with a leopard lingerie on--but always with a whip. Whether it is a man or a woman, a client should always expect the unexpected because I truly am a chameleon. I change My entire appearance based on My desires and the energy I receive from My surroundings just like a chameleon.

What kinds of people book sessions with you?

My typical client is a very busy professional with a high stress occupation. Most are in the 20-40 age range. I have been the first Mistress for many twentysomething guys and a few barely legal in the military. The vast majority of My clients are affluent, busy, fit, and handsome. I find it odd sometimes that I see so many handsome men, and yet it means nothing to Me since I am a lesbian. I definitely do not dislike men, though, or I could not do this business. I love what I do! I love the trust and exchange of power during My sessions. My sessions are usually high energy. Men are usually surprised to see how much physically strong I am when I utilize rough body play with them. Some of My client's come from the magazine that I advertise in called DDI (Dominatrix Directory International). Some come from Internet searches. Some come from My five page article that I did for MAXIM a couple of years ago. I am their first webs reality series and I still get calls from that .

What are your specialties?

I do not think I have a specialty. My preferences include whip work, rough body play, high energy domination, sensory deprivation, and sensory overload. I also satisfy My desire for theatrical presentation by engaging in role play. I love to play Dr. LunaSea and do gender reassignments on my clients who like cross dressing (temporary of course). Muhahahah!!! I am well-trained in most forms of play, and I'm not sure if I'd say that I have a specialty. I love it all from soft, sensual foot and nail worship scenes to rough edge play with knives, severe bondage, and breath play.

What kinds of equipment do you use?

I have an assortment of St. Andrews crosses, bondage tables; a custom vac bed from Cocoon; a gyno table in a clinic area with items for medical play such as needles, scalpels for cuttings, and cauterizing pens for branding; a dog cage; a Violet Wand with numerous attachments; a TENS unit for e-stim; a Pro Nova Light and Sound System; Chinese Fire Cups; custom-made whips, floggers, paddles, and canes; severe to mild bondage equipment; and you get the picture. I also keep a First Aid kit on hand should it be necessary, and I am CPR /First Aid certified. I am at all times concerned with the safety of My clients and Myself. I play SSC (safe, sane, consensual) and RACK (Risk Aware Consensual Kink).

Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into?

Yes, I have two 24/7 male slaves that are non-sexual. One has served Me for six years and the other has served for three. In My dating or personal relationships with women, I require that she be in the lifestyle or have a strong interest. I prefer a submissive/switch girlfriend that is very fit and into all forms of healthy living in body, mind, and soul. I prefer athletic women that have been in the lifestyle and can be submissive to Me both in public and private. I have a St. Andrews Cross in My room as well as personal toys for My own play with special women in My life. I am single with a non-sexual poly household and looking for a female slave to serve Me 24/7 and travel with Me to photo shoots and fetish shows as well. She must have a healthy independence, though. What advice would you have for someone just staring out in the fetish scene? Learn everything you can, and have fun. Go to lifestyle events and get a mentor if possible. And the main thing: don't take yourself too seriously, but take what you are doing seriously.

Do you think fetish is becoming part of the mainstream culture?

Absolutely! The fetish scene has always been made appearances in popular culture from Marlena Dietrich's gender bender film roles to Heineken selling beer using a Dominatrix. People have been buying collars for show and fashion has for years as well. I think fetishism is everywhere, and it has become so much of a part of our daily lives that we often do not realize it. I used to love the live mannequin shows that would be in department store windows many years ago. They were awesome! But then again, I do have a mannequin fetish. . .

What kind of music do you like?

I love music that speaks to My mind and My soul. I usually listen to high energy dance/club-type music when I wake up or before a session. I switch to more mellow music with ambient tones at night. I love BPM on XM radio. I also have a lot of friends goth/industrial bands. So as you can see, I have a really varied taste of music.

What do you like to do for fun?

Traveling. Spending time with My slaves. My life is very full, and I totally entertain the hell out of Myself to be quite honest with you. My life amuses Me! I go to the gym and am obsessed with being fit. I color My hair all kinds of colors on a regular basis as well as the hair of My slaves. They have to match My hair, and their nails have to match too. I am extremely spontaneous and might give a golden shower one minute and be sploshing in the kitchen with Alpo the next. You just never know. Also, I teach a lot of lifestyle workshops and have been very involved with DomCon LA and Atlanta over the years. I travel quite a bit and I "LOVE" My life!
