Interview With Kellie Darling by Cary Fetish Model turned Pinup Model / all around cool person Kellie Darling. Classic pinup has become a huge phenomena lately, what about it first captured your interest? I used to love playing with my grandma's old 50's hot wheels when I was a kid, I've always been a huge fan of the vintage cars and vintage lifestyle. I had a lot of friends involved in the pin up and hot rod scene and they started dragging me out to events and such and I became hooked!
A friend of mine needed a model for a photography project and I jumped at the chance to get all dressed up in my 50's clothes and pose. It just took off from there! What do you think about pinup becoming part of the mainstream culture? I think that it's amazing that the scene is growing and more and more people are getting into the lifestyle that we live. It's exciting to see the crowds grow and the events get bigger. As long as everything remains true to the old lifestyle, I think it's wonderful. The more the merrier!
What is it that excites you about pinup modeling? I adore putting on a sexy vintage dress and a cute pair of heels and strutting around, so having the chance to do it in front of the camera is amazing! I've gotten to know a lot of WONDERFUL people. Photographers, models, make up artists, and fans, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Having the chance to keep the vintage lifestyle alive and show the world that the pin up scene isn't dead is a blessing. I love going to the events and being surrounded by people that share the same love and passion for it as I do.
Are there any other creative mediums you work in?
I've only been doing Pin up for 2 years now but I've dabbled in a bit of fetish style photoshoots and had an absolute blast with it. I've thought about expanding into burlesque. We'll see in the near future if I decide to cross that bridge :) I also used to sing in a pop punk band back in my freshman year of college and had a BLAST. I still sing around the house and the office but not on stage anymore. I would jump at the chance to hop back on stage though!
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in? I have some wonderful dresses from Stop Staring, and some amazing corsets, skirts, and tops from My Baby Jo that I adore. Sometimes the less clothing the better though. :) Victoria's Secret Bra's are my favorite. I recently did a shoot wearing only Latex and that had to be one of my favorite "outfits" of all times :)
What are your least favorites? I've worn some extremely high heels in some seriously awkward on-site photo shots that have killed my feet. Nothing like a little pain to get a great shot! I love all the outfits I've worn though. I wouldn't model them if I didn't truly like them! I wouldn't want to falsely encourage others to wear something I couldn't stand.
What kind of music do you like? I have probably one of the most eclectic tastes in music out there. I love of course my Rockabilly and Phychobilly. But I stay true to my roots and LOVE Punk, Hardcore, and some good old rock n roll. I grew up on country and still love relaxing with a good country album. I'm also into hip hop...I love to dance. :)
What do you like to do for fun? As long as I'm with my friends, I'm having fun! Weather it's going to a car show, music festival, or sitting at home relaxing watching movies. A few of my model friends and I have started a Promotion and Pin Up group called the V8 Vixens, and we go out together a lot and host shows and such which is ALWAYS a blast! I like to go out to a good nightclub every now and then and have some Hollywood fun and dance the night away.
