Interview With Kat Kartel by Cary Kat Kartel is all of our favorite things: Beautiful Fetish Model, Pro Domme, and very cool and funny person. How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM? As a teenager I related and lived an alternative lifestyle. What I considered normal were technically considered "fetish" related. I owned my first bondage belt at the age of 16. I had a whip and chains hanging from my bedroom wall shortly after. It has always just been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Now that I am an adult it seems only natural that I would have become a dominatrix/fetish model as a profession.
Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into? Well being a dominatrix is not only a profession but obviously something I enjoy as well. What I enjoy most are the D/s relationships that I have on a personal level out side of "work". Anything including domination, bondage, power exchange, paddles, feminizing, ect.
Are there any fetishes that you don't find appealing? Anything including animals, blood, diapers and bowel movements.
What excites you about fetish modeling? Playing dress up :)
Classic pinup has become a huge phenomena lately, what about it first captured your interest? Nothing really. My earlier fetish shoots in latex resembled 50's style dresses and hair-do's so naturally I got offers following that to do pinup work. It seems there was a demand for it since there were only a hand full of girls doing it (at the time) so the magazines started publishing my photos and before I knew it I was expected to attend all of the car show and events. I decided to take control of my career and stop doing what everyone else expected me to do and get back into the type of modeling that I was first attracted to, fetish modeling. There is a fine line between "pinup" and "fetish" thanks to pioneers like Betty Page so although I try to stay away from "cheesecake" style photos there is still a vintage feel to some of my work.
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in? Latex and Lingerie!
What are your least favorites? Anything that covers up too much.
Do you think pinup and fetish are becoming part of the mainstream culture? I think fetish still has a long way to go before it hits mainstream but pinup became main stream years and years ago. Once fashion magazines started featuring popular "rockabilly" and "vintage reproduction" clothing companies it had finally arrived in the main stream. "Pop Divas" like Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry and Amy Winehouse have all helped bring some of the more youthful fashions of it to light as well as main stream stores like Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe basing a lot of their seasonal fashions around it too.
What kind of music do you like? I like a mix of everything. Punk, Industrial, Metal, 80's glam rock, country, classical, easy listening.
What do you like to do for fun? Relax mostly. Watch movies and hang out with family or friends. I craft a lot too. When I'm not working I like to sit and make hair accessories and jewelry or decorate.
