Hellina Fjellstorm: The argument against drum machines, they just aren't this hot! :)

What music first captured your ear and got you interested in music?

I have always had a very deep passion for music. Even when I was really young I would constantly have music going. I remember being a little kid and hearing Pink Floyd and Guns N Roses playing... I first heard Slipknot at the age of ten and absolutely loved them. Their music sounded angry and got me really pumped. Soon I discovered death metal. The first death metal band I heard was Dying Fetus and I still love them to this day. I adore death metal, especially the really technical stuff like Necrophagist! It gives you such a feeling of empowerment.

What is it about the drums in particular that you like?

I've always been drawn to drums for some reason. I remember going shopping with my mom when I was a wee one and I seeing one of the kiddie drum sets. I wanted one so bad, but both of my parents refused. haha. So, instead of getting a car for my sixteenth birthday I got a drum set... I guess what draws me to drums is the feeling you get when you're playing and you feel the beat flowing through you. I love that you can go sit down and productively hit things after a trying day. haha. It takes a lot of time, effort, and patience but that's the best part. Putting everything into a musical project and having it come out sounding epic!

Do you come from a background of training in the arts?

No, no training. A few people in my family were musically inclined. My grandfather was a drummer and played in bands when he was young. I am self taught. I've spent hours and hours dedicating time to the arts. It's my life and I enjoy putting as much time into it as I can.

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

I haven't done a ton of fetish/BDSM modeling yet. I'm not a huge fan of BDSM, but I do like some of the fetish modeling I've seen. I really like the latex stuff! Seeing the beautiful art people has created is what's started to spark an interest for me with fetish modeling. It is something that I definitely want to do more of!

Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into?

I don't get too extreme with things, but I do have a few fetishes. I love vampires. haha. I'm pretty average I'd say. I like the biting, pulling hair, smacking, and dominance thing.

Are there any fetishes that you don't find appealing?

Yes, there are tons of fetishes that I just don't get and find them unappealing. Everybody is in to their own things, but some of it goes too far for me. I'm pretty open and will try new things, but when it comes down to bodily functions that's a definite no go for me! haha

What excites you about fetish modeling?

It's an extreme form of modeling and is almost like the black sheep of the modeling industry. Everything has a dark side and fetish modeling is the darker side of modeling...I absolutely love the shoes and latex! I think the outfits and accessories are amazingly beautiful! Another thing that excites me about fetish modeling is that it's becoming more acceptable but still at the same time it's really edgy and raw.

Classic pinup has become a huge phenomena lately, what about it first captured your interest?

What first captured my interest about classic pinup is the shape of the models. They aren't pencil thin. They're curvy, natural, and beautiful. They have a classical beauty about them. They don't need entirely fancy outfits or makeup. They keep it simple and of course classy.

What is it that excites you about pinup modeling?

It's exciting to get glammed up like a classic beauty. Pin-up modeling has a very vintage and classy feel to it. You can be really sexy without crossing the line... Pin-up models have curves too! I love that! It's something you don't see too much of now days, but I definitely would love for it to come back!

What are your favorite types of outfits to model in?

I enjoy modeling in any kind of outfit. I love getting into character with whatever kind of outfit I'm wearing!

What are your least favorites?

Even though I did enjoy wearing the pretty ropes, I'd have to say that my least favorite "outfit" to wear was the ropes that I had on during a fetish rope shoot I did a while back. It was somewhat uncomfortable.

Do you think pinup and fetish are becoming part of the mainstream culture?

Yes, I do. I definitely think that pin-up and fetish are becoming a big part of the mainstream culture. Times are changing and so are people. People are becoming more accepting of things that are edgy and out there. I think the classic beauty of pin-up is very popular and I have seen a lot of it around lately. I've also seen a ton of fetish models. Most of the alternative models that I see are either pin-up models, fetish models, or both. I think it's a rather exciting thing that it's becoming part of the mainstream culture even though I can see why some wouldn't.

What kind of music do you like?

I have respect for all kinds of music, even the kinds I hate. I listen to whatever I like. My absolute favorite kind of music is death metal though. It's so powerful and takes so much talent and hard work to play. Music in general takes some amount of talent to play, but with death metal it's so fast and technical that you have to put a ton of time and patience into practice. Not everyone can write good death metal music, just like not everyone can write hit pop songs... It sends chills down my spine to hear some amazingly good death metal!

What do you like to do for fun?

I practice my craft which is music. I play drums for no less than 2-3 hours everyday. I make it a point to play and I have fun whilst doing so. I love going to concerts and partying hard with the close buds. When you have great music and great friends together, you're in for a good time! When the weather is nice I like to go outside and go for walks and what not.
