Interview With Domme Dietrich

by Cary

Domme Dietrich is a Pro Domme, Fetish Film Maker, and Promoter of one of my favorite parties, Cat O' Nine.

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

I've been around since I was fifteen, for better or worse (ha!).It was always around and due to my interest in the theatrical and explosive I think it just fell in from there. I've always enjoyed extremes and it's a fantastic extreme.

And how did you transition from an interest to it being a profession?

It was just the natural progression of a personal interest into a profitable profession. That probably sounds less exciting than it is, but beating the sense out of people just makes sense on a professional level.

You promote the Cat 'O 9 party, how did that come about?

The party was a concept formed between Aerik Von and myself to create an event that was centered around BDSM culture in the classic sense and it evolved from there. We put one together and brought in a large group of people who usually don't attend events - and viola, Cat O' Nine. The goals of the event are very different than most "fetish" parties as it's more about the old school than the new, and less attention is placed on music and fashion with the focus being actual BDSM practice and culture. The goal was an event that could placed in any time period, from the old world courts of France to ten years in the future and still have the same practice and atmosphere.

And you recently held the party in San Francisco instead of the usual New York, how do the parties and scenes differ between the two cities?

San Francisco closes it's bars at 2:00am, which was a bit of a switch. Also, it must be noted that the scenes are very different, with San Francisco being more "fetish" oriented to begin with so it's a different world of promotions and personalities and how you interact with them.It was a very interesting event, and hopefully the next one will be even better.

You recently completed an elaborate and beautifully shot full length fetish film, can you tell me how that came about?

Infernali was inspired both by the concept of living fantasy and Dante's Inferno. The whole process of the film is people exploring their fantasies, and the "catch" that might allow them to explore these darker fixations in a setting that is both real, spiritually driven and still like a dream.

We met a director named Francisco at the third event and he directed a spot based on it, we loved his work and decided to collaborate.Infernali is the end result of that wonderful collaboration...

What do you think about fetish becoming part of the mainstream culture?

I think it's healthy for people to explore what they enjoy secretly in mainstream venues as it only raises awareness and acceptance. acceptance. It's very unlikely that most people will come running to attempt many of the things people involved in the world of BDSM would simply because it''s a fad of some sort, so if anything it shows that it's something that many people from unexpected backgrounds might explore or even simply be attracted to.
