Interview With Countess Grotesque by Cary My new favorite member of the royal family: Countess Grotesque! How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM? I went into a sex store for the first time with my boyfriend at the time when I was 17. I was overwhelmed by all the toys and devices but went straight to the bondage section and bought myself a leather G string (thong) with chains on it and a small whip. I had no idea about bondage back then but we taught ourselves and it all went from there. Fetish came a bit later through exploration and weird dreams. I'd wake up from a weird sex dream and it would be a new fetish.
Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what
are you into? Yes my boyfriend and I are quite fortunate to have most of the same fetishes. We're always happy to explore new ones and see what we like. I feel you really don't know if you won't like something until you give it a go.

Are there any fetishes that you don't find appealing? I draw my limits at skat, vomit and anything to do with children or animals or anything that would harm others. They're all things that don't interest me and never will due to me being disgusted by it or morally off-putting.
What excites you about fetish modeling?
My style of fetish modeling is a little different from most people. That goes for all my modeling really. I try to incorporate art into all of my shoots, even the fetish ones. I love getting dressed up into pvc, leather or latex, big boots and masks and such. It's very empowering and a whole lot of fun.
What are your favorite types of outfits to model in? My wardrobe is so shiny. I love anything that shines..pvc and latex etc. I love the feel and the aesthetic nature of it. I will model in any style though, I don't have limits to my art. My work is often quite controversial and very varied. I also own a lot of neon clothing too though, my wardrobe is quite varied as I am a very varied person.
What are your least favorites? I don't feel comfortable modeling clothing that doesn't compliment my body. I feel in life in general people should wear attire that flatters their particular body shape. Other than that..I don't suit anything brown lol.
Do you think pinup and fetish are becoming part of the mainstream culture? Alternative in general has taken a step towards becoming mainstream which I find quite sad if anything. People do their best to be unique and live the lifestyle, then Hollywood decides to steal it for awhile. But like I just said.."for awhile". It's fashion, it'll blow over like every other fad, then we can take it back as our own. And besides, those who live the lifestyle of fetish and alternative subcultures make the image look much better than anyone who doesn't live this way 24/7.
What kind of music do you like? I have such a varied music taste that some people find it quite strange. I like most genres and am proud of it :p Predominantly my music taste lately is really upbeat tunes like happy hardcore. It puts me in a good mood. When in a different frame of mind I could listen to Sopor Aernus all day. Her words inspire me and her music gives off eerie chills to which I can not ignore. I also love ebm, darkwave, metal, rock, pop, and a lot of music from the 50s onwards. I'm even fond of classical and opera.
What do you like to do for fun? My life revolves around art so when I'm not making art or doing shoots, I'm thinking about the next concepts. I also enjoy spending time with my bf, friends and family of course. As well as making clothes, synthetic hair, catching a movie, going to a rave or goth club and shopping. In my spare time I surf the net, and study sexology and fetishism.
