Vintage Bomber Pinup Photos Part 1

During World War II, bomber flight crews in both the European and Pacific theatres hand painted colorful pin up or cheesecake models on their aircraft. Theses fetish images & caricatures were often of sexy and voluptuous women---many were nudes---indicative of the erotic names flight crews gave their aircraft. Fortunately, airmen took pictures of their handiwork---mostly in black and white---forever preserving their unique art of war. Many, if not most, of these artists are long gone---some probably perishing in the very aircraft that carried their artistic expression---but the photos left behind give us an insight into the creative minds of men far from their families that were fighting through hell on earth. Let us not forget that our freedoms of today were assured as these fetish images accompanied our brave airmen over hostile environments. This unique art is from a bygone era but should never be forgotten---nor will it ever be created again.
