Interview With Betsey Bosen

by Cary

Betsey Bosen brings her own unique, fetishy twist to classic pinup style.

How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM?

It was definitely Bettie Page for me. She is one of my biggest influences still to this day and is the reason why I started pin-up and fetish modeling in the first place. She is the ultimate good/bad girl, the queen of the pin-ups! I remember I first saw and old Irving Klaw photo of her when I was a teenager and I knew I wanted to do that too! I just adore Bettie.

Are there any fetishes that you don't find appealing?

I'd have to say the pain-inducing kind. I don't know, I guess I just don't understand them, the pleasure in pain. Ear gauging, body suspension..it's just not for me!! Am I missing out on something?!! Please tell me!!! lolo. I mean I can see a little friendly spanking, a little playful kink here and there.. but "playful" being the key word there though! lololol.

What excites you about fetish modeling?

I love vintage clothing, shoes, corsets, and the whole shebang. I love dressing up! It's alot of fun for me to recreate retro fetish and cheesecake photos and themes..I like how fetish is both sexy and funny and I enjoy wearing quality latex and rubber now and then. I truly enjoy keeping it alive

What are your favorite types of outfits to model in?

I enjoy modeling my own creations, I get the best fit that way. But I again, love wearing vintage clothing. Theres just so much detail and craftsmanship put into vintage and handmade clothing, you just can't buy that kind of quality in the mall or with most modern clothing companies... With that being said, there are quite a few respectable replication vintage companies now and it seems like there are more and more popping up each year, it's great. I think Gentry de Paris, Versatile Fashions, Elite Heels all do a swell job. If they need a model I'm available! *wink* *wink*.

What are your least favorites?

Poorly made stuff. The kind that fall apart after you've worn or washed them once! Can't stand those!

Do you think pinup and fetish are becoming part of the mainstream culture?

I do. We see pin-up and fetish more and more everyday. There are magazines and movies devoted to them and all kinds of references to them in the media. They are a couple of growing and prominent sub-cultures. I've noticed that even mainstream magazines and websites are adding old Hollywood and retro/girly photos to they're pages and tons of articles and people wearing these fashions can be found all over.

We really have to thank people like the Sex Pistols and Vivienne Westwood back in the seventies for pushing fetish wear and culture to the masses and artists such as Olivia and Dita Von Teese for keeping Pin-up and Burlesque alive.

What kind of music do you like?

I love all kinds of music, from Classical to Rock. Yeah I'm a total music junky. I love early Rock n' Roll, R&B, Jump Blues, Soul and Doo-Wop...Ike Turner, Little Willie John, Amos Milburn, Irma Thomas, Ivory Joe Hunter, Elvis, Warren Smith, The Ventures, The Ronettes are all good in my book.

What do you like to do for fun?

My favorite thing is listening and dancing around to music and going to concerts. I'd like to pick up a musical instrument soon. I also love ethnic foods, watching old movies, traveling, reading, farting around on the internet and gardening.

Right now I'm having a lot of fun working on my next routines. They will involve feathers and a giant champagne glass!
