Interview With Agapesis by Cary Together Mélanie and J.P form Agapesis, a cool fetish oriented band from Germany. How did you meet and form your band? Mélanie :The group was created by our love. I met JP in February 2006, in March I went to live with him and we started to create Agapesis. We did not have precise idea on the style, it's in moving in small stepw that we eventually find our way. It is from December 2007 that all accelerated through our label (Biohazzard Records). Our label has merged with the Danse Macabre Records, and we have released two albums with them in 2008
How does your collaboration work? JP: I'm the musician of group, my "work" is to create music (melodies, rhythms, songs ...) And I'm doing also the mastering of our songs, with the help of my wife who has another vision (and the mix of our thoughts offers an original music, personal to us). I doing just the achievement musical and technical . Melanie is the secretary of the group, she answers all the people who contact us like a secretary, she answers most questions in the magazine. She deals with our website and our myspace. We enrolled in a different site which we allow to use our advertising. She has also studied art (decorating, painting, sculpture, drawing, graphics) and therefore carries out all the graphic composition. She currently working on a set (décor) of imaginary scene. She is also the singer of the group and she helps me has doing the mastering. (In fact it is she who does most of the work: promotion, graphics, secretarial, singing, the texts also (those in English) management of various sites, etc.. ...) I help with them willingly, but the Internet and I are not friends, (laughs).
What music first captured your ear and got you interested in music? Mélanie:The first thing we find important and that we listen carefully: it's the melodies (the romance in the songs) it's with melodies that we spend our feelings. And I think the public needs melodies, so they can dream, think, imagine. The melodies accompany us when we are sad or tired. They can escape from everyday life that is often stressful and difficult. What interests me in music is to see the energy it releases, love or hatred that the singer passes on. The feeling that the songs give me when I hear them.
What kinds of people come to see your band play? Mélanie: We don't have a specific public. Everybody comes to see us play and I can say that because we had some experience: First the punk and rock: We have played in a club or the accustomed were of punk, rock and metal and each people enjoy our concert: the punk think our music has a punk energy, the rocker think that I sing like a rocker and the metals appreciates our show. And finally, we have play with Emilie Autumn (known for his side "theatrical pleasant for the younger (10 to 25 years). We have play after she, there were parents with their children, they have watching our show and they have also appreciate. Why? because we play 3 different shows and because our music is open to all. Our show: We obviously a show for the clubs : BDSM Fetish. We have also a show fetish with elegance (using much the romantic side) And a show that's just musical. So compared to the public we Choose the show and so far, all appreciate.
Do you prefer playing live or recording? Mélanie :We prefer to play live because it's on the scene that we have fun and we can see the pleasure of the public, the reaction compared to our songs but also by our show. It's also a way for us to enjoy ourselves in a style that pleases us. But Jean-Pierre is a artist, he loves the stage but he also loves recording is a gift for him and he can express as much as it wants, no barrier stop, I often leaves free rein to his imagination, but from time to time I have some need, I give hem my idea.
How did you become interested in fetish/BDSM? JP: Gradually, we became a band fetish, we take pleasure in the show and the people see us play games. We love the sensation of BDSM,
We have search of entertainments enjoy us and the public. We are a group Fetish-BDSM in mind ...
Do you enjoy fetishism/BDSM play in your personal life, and if so what are you into? Mélanie: Yes, after discovering different pleasure in our show Fetish, we use some entertainment BDSM between us in our personal life.The sensations of submissions (slaves - Master)…
Are there any fetishes that you don't find appealing? Mélanie :Yes, we don't like fetish suspensions with Piercings, I find it's not elegant. But of course, everybody does what he wants from his body, I answer to our question. (laughs)
Do you think fetish is becoming part of the mainstream culture? Mélanie: Unfortunately, lots of groups are not fetish in their minds they want to become a Fetish band (while they are not in their head) it's as if a vegetarian pretending be a omnivorous (you can see that) ...
